Experience Fascinating Trips Live
The Silk Road, Panamericana – the names travel dreams are made of. At the Caravaning-Show-Center visitors to the CARAVAN SALON can have a first-hand look at these legendary roads and regions in fascinating daily audio-visual shows.
At 1.00 pm Konstantin Abert will send us on a 35,000 km trip across Russia, through China and along the legendary Silk Road. Spectacular photography will guide fair visitors through the wide expanses of Russia all the way to Lake Baikal, electrifying mega-cities in China, along the Great Wall and finally to the Gobi Desert. On the age-old Silk Road he takes his audience across the Pamir Mountains to Central Asia with its ancient metropolises Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiwa, then across the Caucasus Mountains into Turkey. The Panamericana is thought to be world’s most picturesque road leading half way round the globe and crossing all climate and vegetation zones.
Every day at 2.30 pm Uwe Hamm and Janette Emerich will guide adventurous campervan travellers along this breathtaking route from the south to the north of the Americas. Calving glaciers, spectacular Andes crossings at 5,000-metre altitudes, giant salt pans, active volcanoes that emit swirling smoke from their craters and mystical Inca sites like Machu Picchu are guaranteed to give the audience goose bumps. In a multi-vision show presented at 4.00 pm on Saturdays and Sundays fair visitors are introduced to yet another inside tip for adventure-hungry individual travellers: Northern Siberia. Konstantin Abert and Holger Keller-Lux took a small all-wheel bus and ventured into the cold of the Siberian winter. Their solo trip at an average temperature of minus 50°C took them to the Verkhoyansk, famous for its cold temperatures, crossing frozen swamps, lakes and rivers.

Play and win at the “Caravaning Wiiathlon”
Movement, action and concentration are required elements during the “Caravaning Wiiathlon”, where children and adults collect points at five stations featuring various Nintendo Wii games. The Wiiathlon includes the popular car race Mario Kart Wii, ski jumping and shooting headers from the Wii Fit series as well as bowling and tennis from the Wii Sports series.
Afterwards, participants may try their luck in finding the right number combination to open the safe and win a caravaning trip or other attractive prizes. As a special highlight, well-known retired professional athletes will participate in the “Caravaning Wiiathlon”. On 31 August, former soccer player Thomas Allofs will support visitors during the "Caravaning Wiiathlon". On 01 and 02 September, we are hosting retired decathlete and Olympic medallist Frank Busemann, and on 03 and 04, we welcome soccer expert Udo Lattek.
Men’s Dreams come true: the “Man Mobile”
A true eye-catcher at the CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF 2009 will be the Man Mobile. Designed specifically by men for men, it is perfectly geared to men’s dreams. Poker table, large-screen TV, bar and outdoor sitting room suite form part of the standard equipment. Even a roof terrace is planned. However, the development team also wanted a number of practical solutions such as the outside management of laundry, waste and dishes or flexible box systems instead of the classic ceiling storage units. The traditional kitchen with an overabundance of gadgets was banned from the van. Instead, the design team opted for easy-to-use appliances such as microwave, oven and barbeque.
Good as New
Although it is 18 years old the Bürstner T 620 can keep up with clearly “younger” makes in terms of design, interior convenience and accessories. It owes this to a six-month “renovation” scheme during which both the interior and exterior designs were completely revised and the seating, beds, kitchen and bath were brought up to date. Likewise, the technical on-board equipment was adapted to today’s standards where comfort accessories such as an air-conditioning system are must-haves. This refit vehicle will be showcased for the first time at CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF. The initiators will explain which refitting jobs were performed, for which vehicles they are suitable, how to best go about the built-in fitments and redesigns and how to assess costs. Visitors to the trade fair also wishing to modernise and “pimp” their RVs can ask the experts for professional tips. After six months the owners of the Refit-RV will see their completely renovated vehicle for the first time on Saturday 29 august at 12 o'clock.
BobbyCar Driving School
A highlight for the smallest visitors to the CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF in 2009 will also be the BobbyCar driving school on the outdoor premises. Children can have their first try at driving and will have to obey the highway code just as they would in real road traffic – but in BobbyCars that are a carbon copy of a big motor home.
