CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF: Discover Your World - Largest International Range in Mobile Holidaymaking

The CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF from 25 August to 2 September 2012 (trade visitor day on 24 August) invites visitors to discover the mobile leisure market. “Discover Your World” is once again the motto at the No. 1 trade fair for mobile homes and caravans. Awaiting visitors at Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre is the largest choice in mobile holidaymaking: mobile homes and caravans, basic vehicles, accessories, furnishing components, awnings/tents, mobile homes and travel destinations. The sector is seeing a new upswing and the prospects for 2012 are bright. “The CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF is the trend barometer of the sector and we look to this year’s fair full of optimism. As a form of holidaying caravanning is once again enjoying great popularity and this year we will again be presenting all sorts of highlights plus many world innovations,” says Director Helmut Winkler.

Fascinating Trends and Vehicles

The CARAVAN SALON presents everything the market has to offer. In Halls 9 to 17 and on the open area of Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre as always visitors can look forward to a complete and varied exhibition range and programme. A total of 120 caravan and mobile home brands will be represented and demand from exhibiting firms is so high again this year that halls are fully booked. 570 international exhibitors will be attending this year’s CARAVAN SALON. The trade fair in Düsseldorf is traditionally the event for innovations in the caravanning sector – which is why manufacturers will once again offer fascinating trends, innovative premieres and spectacular presentations here. Halls 9 to 12 plus Hall 14, 16 and 17 are reserved for vehicles. Hall 13 is home to industrial suppliers. This year Hall 15 will once again showcase both the tourism and accessories sections while mobile homes can be found on the open area outside.
Anyone seeking a leisure travel vehicle, regardless of what category, will find what they are looking for at the CARAVAN SALON as Düsseldorf will showcase what the market has to offer. Alongside familiar layouts and classic vehicles the new models for the season presented to the public for the first time will obviously be very much in the limelight. The spectrum of vehicles on show ranges from small caravans and compact mobile homes for two people right through to family vehicles and luxury motorhomes.

Pioneering Developments

Enjoying as great popularity as ever are semi-integrated mobile homes and campervans. Using new materials manufacturers are able to reduce the weight – which means an increasing number of larger mobile homes are keeping to the 3.5 ton limit without compromising on comfort. The caravanning sector is also continuing in its efforts to become more eco-friendly. Reduced energy consumption, pioneering developments, lightweight design options and mobile homes with hybrid drive are very much in focus here. At the CIVD stand the Green Caravanning presentation is also set to continue. The Green Motorhome equipped with the latest ecological components demonstrates how caravanning is becoming ever more eco-friendly. Furthermore, the CIVD will invite visitors to get to know Europe better and provide them with information on the new B96 driving licence. From January 2013 holders of class B driving licences can purchase an extension enabling them to drive a car and trailer combination weighing up to 4.25 tons.
Manufacturers will round off their ranges with new series and numerous innovative details. Whether it is reasonably priced starter models, compact mid-class vehicles or the luxury premium segment – at the CARAVAN SALON all budgets are catered for. New concepts with fresh shapes and colours make for great variety here.

“innovations for new mobility”

A jury made up of renowned designers and sectoral experts will also carefully scrutinise the design of new vehicles and products and their practical functions at the sixth “caravanning design award: innovations for new mobility”. The best here will be awarded the coveted “caravanning design award” that Messe Düsseldorf GmbH presents to especially innovative products in the caravanning sector every two years. For the first time now there will also be online voting where caravan fans can vote in a category. The sectoral competition is organised by red dot projects.

Colourful Supporting Programme for the Entire Family

CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF is also known for its entertaining programme revolving around leisure mobility making a visit to the fair an experience for all the family. There are daily dream tours to be seen at the Caravanning Show Center. At the Dream Tour Cinema Konstantin Abert, Jeanette Emerich and Uwe Hamm will be whisking visitors off to Namibia and South Africa, Latin America, the Baltic and East Prussia. For children the AWO at CARAVAN SALON 2012 has a wide range of recreational activities in store and in the open area outside they will be able to let off steam to their hearts’ content. Naturally, this year will also see the return of the popular vintage caravan exhibition.
Many caravan enthusiasts will be travelling to the event in their own vehicle: during the CARAVAN SALON some 30,000 visitors will spend the night in their own vehicles at the Messe Düsseldorf’s Caravan Center. The large car park north of the exhibition centre boasts more than 2,000 serviced and non-serviced pitches.
