Ascona-Locarno - And its valleys

The region on and around Lake Maggiore attracts visitors with its surprising diversity: glaciers and palm trees, an early spring and a golden autumn, good wines and a wealth of local specialities.

On the promenade of Ascona, life feels sweet and relaxed, on the Brissago Islands camellias and other exotic blossoms spray their beguiling fragrance. And on the famous Piazza Grande in Locarno, you are instantly enchanted by the proverbial "Dolce far Niente" feeling.

In the valleys of the region, wild rivers rush through stony landscapes. Cosy grotti await hungry guests, and colourful folk festivals provide unique entertainment.

Bellinzonese e Alto Ticino - Where nature and history go hand in hand

Variety makes life sweet: in Bellinzona you can first wander through the medieval castles, which are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and then let off steam in the unspoilt nature of northern Ticino.

On Saturday mornings, locals and visitors swarm into the narrow streets of the capital as local delicacies tempt in the displays of the weekly market. And at Rabadan, Bellinzona's unique carnival, Fasnacht fans literally experience the craziest days of the year.

In the vast landscape, well-marked hiking trails and mountain bike trails lead to lesser-known corners that enchant with their charm and the unique contrast between the rugged alpine world and southern climes.

Region Lugano - A pearl between lake and mountains

Lugano is a financial and cultural metropolis in one, the city entices with romantic parks and secluded corners, it seduces with an exclusive shopping mile and with typical speciality shops. In short: Lugano is a small city with world-class stature.

As charming as the city is, as enchanting is its surrounding countryside: whether you prefer to travel by bike or by boat is irrelevant. Either way, the view of the villages hanging like grapes on a vine on the flanks of the mountains is a delight.

This landscape has always inspired great minds - that's why you can walk in the footsteps of Hermann Hesse, listen to the music of Duke Ellington or admire Mario Botta's architecture here.

Anyone travelling to Lugano will not only enjoy the southern charm of the city, but also the wealth of leisure activities on offer all around. Better today than tomorrow.

Mendrisiotto - A natural paradise steeped in history

Picturesque villages with original stone houses, vine-covered hills and mysterious valleys - the southernmost corner of Switzerland is an adventure land in a class of its own.

A journey into the past is experienced by those who go to Monte San Giorgio - which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site - and admire the fossil finds there that are over 230 million years old. Or along the Breggia Gorge, you can experience first-hand how the water has carved its way through the rocks over the millennia.

Epicureans stroll through the vineyards, admire the gentle landscape - and are always full of anticipation, because there is always a wine cellar or a grotto waiting to be discovered.

The Mendrisiotto offers a wealth of stories, delicacies and scenic gems that no one should miss.
